YOO!! I have had a pretty rad weekend. I rocked so hard I now suffer from random nosebleeds! ROCK!

The Missionaries has been rocking shows left and right and getting great response for all over. Watch out for our set at the Strawberry Festival at Roanoke’s Elmwood Park May 5th.
MACRock turned out to be great as expected! Here are some pics Of some of the action!
I’m feeling busy!!! So much going on it’s hard for me to sit down for a second and update, but in between my bagel and tea for breakfast I will try to catch ya’ll up!
The Richmond show at the 13ainbridge collective last Saturday was a really fun show. My gratitude goes out to all who live there. Not only are they putting on great shows they seemed to be doing amazing things for their neighborhood too. Take some time and check out the blog for the house in the link above. I share the stage with Allie Smith and Kristi Emmons, both from Roanoke as well!! The intimacy of the show was perfect and I would love to play there again very soon.
I was asked by Flannel Gurl Records to run sound for a show in Christiansburg on Tuesday. On the bill was my good friends Death Newman (a hard rock tribute to Randy Newman), Group Never (a very abrasive 3 piece with no bass player) and Math the Band (who on tour with Andrew W.K. right now!!!!!). I hitched a ride up there with the Newman boys and had no idea really what to expect.
This was Death Newman’s final show and they did it acoustic and If you haven’t yet go to Swen Together Records and download their album with the full band.
I had never seen Math the Band before and let me tell you, if you get the chance do it! They have so much energy and know how to get the party started. I got a vid for all you lazys.
This weekend is MACRock and while I am not officially playing, I did manage to get on a house show late night Friday with my new pals from Harrisonburg, SURFING and Adam in America. I will be staying the weekend to watch all kinds of bands. I’m sure I’ll have tons of photos and video to share so keep a eye out or get your ass to MACRock!!!
If you didn’t make it to the show you missed out! But since I know how it is I got a video for all of you. Check it and check out Casper & the Cookies
Deral Fenderson gave us some spectacular sound and eerie vocals even did a song with Roanoke’s own Laker~!
Heading off to Richmond for the weekend! Haven’t done a gig up there for sometime now. Hope to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones as well. SHOW INFO
So Spring has sprung and a lot is happening!
I have 2 show next week; Monday the 26th in Christiansburg at Lucie Monroe Specialty Coffee (1600 Roanoke Street). I did a gig there with The Missionaries and really dug the place. Had great beer for sale as well as some good foods (check out the menu). Also on the bill Deral Fenderson, a noise and texture songwriter from the area and Casper and the Cookies from Athens, GA. Some really cool tunes coming from these cookies and they seem to have played around for awhile now even getting to open up for the B-52’s and being Daniel Johnston’s backup band for a night. Here’s the Facebook link and the flier: Casper and the Cookies Comes to Christiansburg!
Next show is Saturday the 31st in Richmond at a good friends house with Kristi Emmons and Allie Smith also from Roanoke. Here’s the Facebook event with all the info: Marshall Hicks, Kristi Emmons, and Allie Smith at the 13
Finally I would like to share some new music me and some friends have been crafting here in the Shelf House. It’s just a demo!!! No vocals! But it’s raw, it’s rocking, I give me a taste of expeditions.
Last weekends shows were great! The Strange Bird’s electric set pumped everyone up for another cool night at The Horseshoe. Met new friends, Adam in America (from Harrisonburg) and showed them the town after our show with Gaffer Project and John Barry Conception. Hey!! I even sold a few CDS!
Today, I finish a cover song for a “locals covering locals” compilation coming out fro my friends Swen Together Records. I did a tune entitled “Didn’t You Baby” from The Young Sinclairs. Comp is to come out later maybe summerish… keep an ear out! In the mean time go check out the other bands and release Swen Together has.

I won’t be doing any of my own tunes there (soon I hope!) but, I’ll be laying down the beats for Strange Bird. Also, if you haven’t seen The Situationist or The Diamond Center (from Richmond) yet, you are in for a good night. Saturday Night —> is at The Bazaar, also a great venue here in the Star City. I’ll have my bag of tricks and a few new songs! Playing with a few local friends and Adam in America (from Harrisonburg) it looks like it’s going to be an action packed weekend!!!
