Finally! A good snowy day, let’s cozy up and lay down some tunes. Last week, I helped Eternal Summers record some demos of some new material for their next album that they will be recording in Austin, TX. I did a simplistic micing and recorded the instruments all at once and had Nicole do her vocals after. Here are the amps and drums and mics and stuff…
The Missionaries as well are recording! We have a small tour coming up so we wanted to make a quick and limited EP to share on our travels. We spent from 3:30pm – 2:30am (11 freakin hours!!) in our space, but all the music is completed. The tracks sound great and we shall be finishing vocals some time this week.
and last, I want to share a video I took at The Bazaar last Saturday night. Eros & The Eschaton from Greensboro, NC played an amazing set. Can’t wait to catch them again. This was the last song of their set:
The Missionaries and Steal The Prize at Rivermount Pizza, Lynchburg, VA
True Burn and Dead In The Dirt at The Shelf House
Here is one of my latest instrumentals I have completed. Hope you like it! It’s entitled “Race Horse Ready” because it has that fast, right out of the gates feeling.
Tonight, The Missionaries will be traveling a little ways North up Interstate 81 to Lynchburg. We are joining our friends Steal The Prize for a show at Rivermont Pizza. Show starts at 10pm sharp! See ya’ll there!
2496 Rivermont Ave, Lynchburg, Virginia 24503
Tomorrow, at The Shelf House Dead In The Dirt is finishing up their tour here in Roanoke. Along with some rocking locals Tiebreaker and True Burn. Should be an awesome night of some heavy tunes!!! I’d bring your ear plugs!

1st show of 2013 was a great show, one of my favorites so far! Hello Shark from Burlington, Vermont kicked the night off and dished out some great indie rock tunes. Woolens then played and were amazing! It’s great to see them outside of our practice space doing their thing! The next day I took Hello Shark around Roanoke the tour included a trip to our famous Star of the Star City.
1st show this year at the Shelf House this Friday! Woolens is a 3 piece rock band I have had the pleasure share a practice space with, will be playing with Hello Shark from Vermont.
This Past weekend I did a lot of recording, a lot! Saturday night I got together with fellow Missionary Megan and did some Clarinet tracks for a project out of Richmond.
Sunday and Monday I tracked with some friends out of Covington, VA. We did live cuts and built a few as well. Here’s all the action!
1st of the year and I am so late on updating so lets finish up 2012.
Through December 1st- 16th I went on tour with Eternal Summers and Nada Surf and wanted to share some photos from that:
We had one last show at The Shelf House in 2012. December 27th The Situationist, one of my all time favorite local bands and my roommates’ band Another Roadside Attraction and Myself had a celebration of all the shows we had in this basement. It was a fun show and a great year! Here is a list of all the shows we hosted in 2012:
Feb.29th Strange Bird / Joneski
May 4th Expeditions / Eternal Summers / Baby Pillows
June 29th Geoff Conley by candle light
Oct. 3rd Heevahava / Buck Gooter / Suppression
Oct. 8th BRAINSTORM / Dinosaur Feathers / Shark?
Oct. 19th The Missionaries / Grape Soda / Gaffer Project
Nov. 1st Virginia Werewoolf / Dads / Souveniers
Nov.18th The Bastards of Fate / Old Flings
also I booked a New Year’s show at Fork in the City and it was a Hit!
So I am on the road again, this time with my friends Eternal Summers. My job on the trip: running the merch table, fixing amps, keeping morale up and whatever I can do to help. We have been out for 7 days so far and just met up with the very awesome Nada Surf. The shows are in some great venues, starting in mid-West and coming back to the East coast. Tonight we are in Milwaukee at the beautiful Turner Hall Ballroom.
I am taking tons photos and videos along the way capturing all the action and fun times.
Just getting back in town from spending some time in Florida with some family. A lot of driving and eating and relaxing took place on my trip, so I need to update and give ya something new to listen to. Here’s 2 new songs from my collection of instrumentals I have been putting together.
Before my trip to FL We had a great show at the Shelf House with Old Flings of Ashville, NC and Roanoke’s Bastards Of Fate. We broke in some new PA speakers and rocked the basement out!
A beautiful weekend it was. Show in Manassas, VA went great. Thanks goes out to Steve from Who are the Southern Baptist? for helping out with booking the show at Nova Music. Green Bean opened the show up, a post rock funk two piece with some cool instrumental stuff. I was next and felt great response. This is the party! Attractions closed out the set. These 5 dudes have great tunes that can get build up mellow guitar licks up to explosive melodic heavy rock anthems.
After loading up and having a drink at the bar next door I join my friend Ricky out to his house out in The Plains, VA. He and his 2 roommates, Tom and Allen and a few others form The Deep Wood Collective there. At some point we got to jamming and we were all grooving on a few of my tunes on the piano. Next morning we all got up and recorded 2 of my songs. They sound good and are getting some mixing done to them. DWC might even release it on a 7 inch!!
All in all really beautiful weekend here’s some pix!
